Care Net Partners with Horizon Community Funds
Care Net Pregnancy Services of Northern Kentucky (“Care Net”) has long been a beacon of hope for women and families navigating the challenges of unplanned pregnancies. With a steadfast commitment to compassion, education, and empowerment, Care Net serves more than 800 clients annually across its three centers in Florence, Cold Spring, and Williamstown. In an exciting new chapter, Care Net has partnered with Horizon Community Funds to amplify its outreach, promote its educational mission, and create greater opportunities for funding.
This partnership is not just about financial growth—it’s about transforming lives. “We look forward to seeing this fund support Care Net’s mission of providing compassionate care and essential resources to those who need it,” said Nancy Grayson, President and CEO of Horizon Community Funds. “By partnering together, we can expand their reach and impact, ensuring more individuals in Northern Kentucky have access to the support and education they need during a critical time in their lives.”
Let’s take a closer look at how Care Net, bolstered by this partnership, is making a difference in the lives of families throughout Northern Kentucky.
Comprehensive Services Tailored to Client Needs
Care Net Partners with Horizon Community Funds Care Net operates three centers staffed with licensed medical personnel and directed by two physicians:
- Dr. Deward Voss, a maternal and fetal specialist who oversees Care Net’s ultrasound program.
- Dr. Olivia Kuper, a family medicine specialist who oversees testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
At these centers, clients receive lab-quality pregnancy tests and limited obstetric ultrasounds to confirm pregnancies and ensure that the fertilized egg is properly implanted and growing within the uterus. These services are vital for women making informed decisions about their pregnancies. Nurse-advocates provide compassionate guidance, discussing all available options with clients and connecting them with community resources for housing, food, and other necessities. For those considering adoption, Care Net works closely with local agencies to ensure a seamless process.
All of these services are provided at no cost, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of receiving care.
Educational Programs That Transform Lives
Care Net Partners with Horizon Community Funds Education is a cornerstone of Care Net’s mission. With the help of 45 trained male and female volunteer mentors, Care Net offers 40 educational programs designed to empower clients with knowledge and skills. Among the most popular is the Earn While You Learn program, which allows clients to earn essential baby items like car seats and cribs as they complete lessons on:
- Prenatal care
- Fetal development
- Newborn care
- Safety and more
But the educational offerings don’t stop there. Other programs guide parents through the challenges of raising children from toddlerhood to adolescence. Clients also benefit from classes on healthy relationships, budgeting, recognizing abuse and trafficking, and even post-abortion recovery.
In 2024 alone, clients completed more than 2,500 classes, both individually and in groups, either in-person or virtually. These programs are not just about parenting—they’re about providing the tools for building a strong foundation for life.
Building Healthy Families, Strengthening Communities
Care Net Partners with Horizon Community Funds “Guided by their mentors, young moms and dads learn how to build healthy families, which in turn form the foundation of a healthy community,” said Lyndi Zembrodt, Executive Director of Care Net. Zembrodt, who joined Care Net in 2005 and has served as Executive Director since 2009, is passionate about the organization’s mission “to educate, support, and empower women and men before, during, and after pregnancy, while uplifting the sanctity of human life.”
Care Net’s impact extends far beyond the walls of its centers. By equipping parents with the skills and resources they need, the organization helps build stronger, healthier communities across Northern Kentucky. This ripple effect is felt by everyone, from the children who grow up in supportive environments to the neighbors and friends who benefit from a more connected and compassionate society.
